William E. Mitchell

William E. Mitchell, 90, of Indianapolis, IN, and a native of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, at Westminster Village North, Indianapolis.

Mr. Mitchell served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1989 from Fort Wayne Community Schools, where he had served as a high school teacher, dean of boys, coach and assistant principal. He had also owned and operated Amrico Business Services.

He was born Feb. 24, 1927, in Huntington to Henry Arthur and Una Fern Lahr Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Thelma Mitchell, in July of 2017.

Survivors include a daughter, Kristine (Mike) Lopresti, of Richmond; a son, Kent (Jane) Mitchell, of Bartlesville, OK; two brothers, Bob (Sandy) Mitchell, of Huntington, and Jim Mitchell, of Independence, MO; three sisters, Mary (Ned) Snowden, of Muncie; Janie (Don) Vickery, of Texas; and Linda (Arden) Geist, of Springfield, OH; six grandchildren, Abby (Bart) Brown and Karen (Joshua) Rice, both of Indianapolis; John (Katie) Lorpresti, of Williamsburg, VA; Sarah (Chase) Thornhill, of Tulsa, OK; Adam (Kate) Mitchell, of Columbus, OH; and David Mitchell of Norman, OK; and two great-grandchildren.

Calling is Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, from noon to 2 p.m. at 2815 Turnpointe Blvd., Unit C, New Haven.
