Sophomores Allie Aschliman and Laney Shaw each captured two wins but the Huntington North High School girls’ swim team came up just a little short to visiting Bluffton, 87-83, on Tuesday night, Nov. 14.

Aschliman won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard butterfly while Shaw took the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle to lead the Lady Vikes to six wins out of 11 events, but the visitors piled up enough points with their depth to squeak out the win.

Aschliman clocked in at 2:35.01 for the IM win and went 1:08.61 in the fly. Shaw dashed to a :27.71 in the shorter free and then went 1:02.27 in the longer.

Aschliman and Shaw also swam a leg on the victorious 200-yard medley relay team, which also included Alyssa Brinkman and Macy Lange and came home in 2:08.97.

Lange got the remaining HNHS win, clocking in at 6:35.72 in the 500-yard freestyle.

Lange added second place points for HNHS in the 100-yard breaststroke, being edged out at the wall with her time of 1:21.63. Brinkman placed second in the 100-yard backstroke, also being edged out at the wall, in 1:17.32.

Adalyn Harvey got third in the backstroke, in 1:26.48. Brinkman added third in the fly, in 1:23.10, Alayna Stroup was bronze in the 200-yard freestyle, in 2:32.20 and Morgan Cogar was third in the 500 free, in 6:54.75.

The Lady Viking got seconds in the 200-yard freestyle and the 400-yard freestyle relays.
