Johnson leads Lady Viking hoopsters past Northfield

Senior Rileigh Johnson scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Huntington North High School girls’ varsity basketball team past visiting Northfield, 50-44, on Saturday, Nov. 18.

Junior Maddy Robrock added 13 points and six rebounds to help coach Heidi Lawson’s crew climb above .500 at 3-2 on the season.

The Lady Vikes trailed 12-11 after the first quarter and 28-27 after two quarters, but pulled ahead, 38-35, by the end of the third frame.

Huntington North hit 19 of 38 shots from the field for 50 percent and knocked down 8 of 13 free throws for 61.5 percent.

Hollyn Anderson facilitated the offense with seven assists.

Northfield, 2-2, was led by Kelcie Thomson with 15 points.

Northfield hit 19 of 46 shots from the field for 41.3 percent and went 2 of 3 at the charity stripe for 66.7 percent.

Huntington North lost the junior varsity contest, 33-26.

Stephanie Atkinson, Bayleigh Double, Kyler Hoopingarner, Meg McDonald and Taylor Reust each scored four points for HNHS.
