Aschliman, Lady Vike swim team swamp South Side

Allie Aschliman again won two events and received more than ample back-up from her teammates as the Huntington North High School girls’s swim team dispatched visiting Fort Wayne South Side, 121-48, on Monday, Nov. 27.

Aschliman, a sophomore, led a top-three sweep in both the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard breaststroke. She won the fly in 1:08.47, with teammates Bekah Brunner and Crosley Stanley second and third, respectively, and she captured the breast in 1:26.97, leading Adalyn Harvey and Sara Lacey across the finish line, respectively.

The Lady Vikes won three other individual events and all three relays, with Aschliman being on two of the winning relay teams. She teamed with Alayna Stroup, Macy Lange and Laney Shaw to win the 200-yard medley relay in 2:11.74, then was part of the 400-yard freestyle relay team with Shaw, Lange and Alyssa Brinkman, which came home in 4:25.14.

Shaw, Lange and Stroup got the other HNHS wins. Shaw led a sweep in the 200-yard individual medley, winning in 2:42.37 with teammates Stroup and Adalyn Harvey following, respectively. Lange captured the 100-yard freestyle, in 1:01.89, and Stroup took the 100-yard backstroke, in 1:16.56.

Shaw placed second to Lange in the 100 free, in 1:02.51, and Brunner took second to Stroup in the back.

The Lady Vikes’ winning 200-yard freestyle relay team was made up of Stroup, Morgan Cogar, Anna Manry and Brinkman, and clocked in at 2:06.45.

Lange placed second and Cogar third in the 200-yard freestyle, in 2:21.17 and 2:35.82, respectively. Brinkman was second and Manry third in the 50-yard freestyle, in :30.76 and :31.40, respectively, and Brinkman and Manry did the 2-3 trick again in the 500-yard freestyle, in 7:01.09 and 7:19.60, respectively.
