Record number in Turkey Trot raises more than $25K for PKK

A record 1,117 runners and walkers raised more than $25,000 for the children and families served by Pathfinder Kids Kampus Thanksgiving morning during the 13th annual Turkey Trot 5K Run and one-mile Turkey Trail family fun walk in Huntington.

The ages of the participants ranged from 2 to 77.  Elias Rojas, of Syracuse, won the overall male competition. The overall female winner was Angi Mook, of Terre Haute.

The course took runners and walkers from McDonald’s of Huntington to Parkview Huntington Hospital, past Pathfinder Kids Kampus and back to McDonald’s. McDonald’s staff provided participants and over 60 volunteers with breakfast after the race and walk.  

McDonald’s awarded overall winners with $100 cash prizes.  Customized Turkey Trot water bottles or fandanas were presented to the first and second place male and female finisher in each five-year age group. The event was timed by eRunner Timing and Results.

McDonald’s was the host sponsor for the event, while Cardinal Family Medicine and PNC Bank were the lead sponsors. Additional sponsors included Granite Ridge Builders, Parkview Huntington Hospital, David Culp & Co., Fort Wayne Metals, PHD, Indiana Physical Therapy, and 3 Rivers Running Company. The Huntington County Emergency Management led the event.

Each participant also received a reusable cinch bag sponsored by Rayco Home Services, Ideal Suburban Homes – Brenda Williams, Novae, Heritage Pointe of Huntington, Parkview Huntington Family YMCA, Pace Chevrolet, Huntington University, Office Concepts, Huntington City- Township Public Library and Jeremy K. Nix, Attorney at Law.
