SA gets measure of Lady Vike swimmers

Laney Shaw and the 400-yard relay team got the only wins on the evening for the Huntington North High School girls’ swim team as it lost to host South Adams, 100-80, on Thursday, Dec. 7.

Shaw, a sophomore, touched the wall in 1:01.97 to claim the 100-yard freestyle.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team came home in 4:47.32 for its win and was composed of Alayna Stroup, Morgan Cogar, Anna Manry and Alyssa Brinkman.

Shaw also placed second for HNHS in the 50-yard freestyle, in :27.92, with Brinkman third in :30.65.

Macy Lange and Allie Aschliman each claimed a pair of second place finishes. Lange was runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley, in 2:35.84, and the 100-yard breaststroke, in 1:20.59. Aschliman was the silver finisher in the 100-yard butterfly, in 1:07.11, and the 100-yard backstroke, in 1:10.96.

Cogar added second place points in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 6:46.42, with teammate Stroup taking third in 6:53.66.

Stroup also placed third in the 200-yard freestyle, in 2;36.54.

Manry placed third in the 100 free, in 1:11.42, and Brinkman was third in the 100 back, in 1:13.48.
