Aschliman's win lone bright spot for HNHS swimgirls

A win by Allie Aschliman was the lone bright spot for the Huntington North High School girls’ swim team in a 112-58 loss to host Columbia City on Thursday, Dec. 14.

Aschliman, a sophomore, topped the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 2:16.96. She followed that up with a silver showing in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 1:10.94.

Macy Lange was a two-time runner-up for the Lady Vikings. The junior raced to second in the 50-yard freestyle, stopping the timer in :28.46, before grabbing the No. 2 spot in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:22.38.

Laney Shaw put forth a silver effort in the 100-yard butterfly, logging a time of 1:17.52. The sophomore also placed third in the 200-yard individual medley, coming home in 2:41.06.

Third-place finishes by sophomores Alyssa Brinkman and Alayna Stroup rounded out Huntington North’s podium finishes in individual races. Brinkman claimed her bronze in the 100 butterfly, finishing in 1:24.84, while Stroup attained hers in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:09.00.
