Apps open for students seeking leg. page spots

Applications are open for students interested in participating in the 2018 Indiana House Page Program during the legislative session, according to State Rep. Dan Leonard (R-Huntington).

Pages have an opportunity to join Leonard during the legislative session and tour the governor’s office, the Indiana Supreme Court and the House and Senate chambers.

“For students interested in the legislative process and public service, this is a great way to get involved,” Leonard said. “If pages want to pursue other statehouse opportunities, like interning while in college, this gives them a view of what that may entail.”

To be a page, applicants should be between the ages of 13 and 18. Leonard said student pages receive an excused absence from school and groups can sign up to participate together.

The 2018 legislative session begins Wednesday, Jan. 3, and must conclude by March 14. Leonard said page positions fill quickly and encouraged participants to apply early online at www.indianahouserepublicans.com/pageprogram or by calling 800-382-9841.

Leonard represents Ho-use District 50, which includes all of Huntington County and portions of Allen and Wells counties.
