Raymond C. Fearnow

Raymond C. Fearnow Jr., 76, of Columbia City, IN, and formerly of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, at his home.

Mr. Fearnow graduated as valedictorian at Lagro High School in 1959 and went on to serve in the United States Army. He worked at International Harvester for nearly 18 years before the company left Fort Wayne. He went to work in sheet metal at Pettigrew and Sons in Fort Wayne and would retire from maintenance at General Electric in the early 1990s.

He and his wife lived in Huntington until 1975, when they moved to the Columbia City area and built an 18-room home on Tri-Lakes.

He was born Feb. 9, 1941, in Wabash to Raymond C. and Nora A. Brown Fearnow. He married Rose Marie Masbaum on Oct. 3, 1963 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Huntington, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 27, 2016.

Survivors include three sons, Tim (Tam) Fearnow and Erik (Melissa) Fearnow, both of Columbia City, and Scott (Ruth) Fearnow, of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Kristine (Jay) Straub and Melinda (Aaron) Woll, both of Columbia City; two brothers, Phil (Judy) Fearnow, of Marion, and Steve (Nancy) Fearnow, of Roann; a sister, Camilla Fearnow, of North Manchester; 11 grandchildren, Alyssa Fearnow, Heath (Elena) Fearnow, Wesley Straub, Evan Staub, Cole Straub, Jacob Straub, Shamon (Dave) Ruckman, Alec Woll, Hailey Woll, Austin (Sarah) Fearnow and Blake Fearnow; and four great-grandchildren

Calling is Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with a Rosary starting at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 315 S. Line St., Columbia City, with calling for one hour prior. Rev. Gary Sigler will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Cemetery.
