Zay bill to place more foster children passes

A bill authored by State Sen. Andy Zay (R-Huntington) to increase the number of foster children allowed in a foster home recently passed the Senate by a vote of 49-0.

Senate Bill 184 would change the maximum number of foster children from five to six.

“Our foster-care system is so important here in Indiana,” Zay said. “Following up on my commitment from last session, I believe increasing the number of foster children allowed for supervision in each foster home is needed now more than ever, with the increasing number of DCS cases resulting directly from our current opioid crisis.”

SB 184 will now move to the House of Representatives for further consideration.
