Crestview Middle School band members do well at ISSMA contest

Members of the seventh and eighth grade bands at Crestview Middle School competed at Eastbrook High School on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the annual Solo and Ensemble Contest sponsored by the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA).

Receiving a gold rating in Division V were Ana Wiegmann, clarinet, and Matthew Grube, snare drum.

The following students received a gold rating in Group IV solos: Sloane Williams, oboe; Laura Hartmus, clarinet; Austin Taylor, trombone; and Jack Nelson, tympani. Joseph Belovich received a silver rating for his alto sax solo.

Eva Thompson, viola, received a gold in Division III.

The following students received a gold rating in Group V ensembles: flute trio of Beth Tallman, Claire Troyer and Morgan Lee and a brass trio of Blaze Rupley, Joe Bowers and Gary Snyder.

In Group IV the brass quartet of Carson Kitchen, Matthew Weill, Austin Taylor and Zander Mason scored a gold rating.

The bands are under the direction of Doug McElhaney.
