Hoosier Girls State informational meeting Feb. 11

The American Legion auxiliary units of Huntington County are holding an informational meeting about Hoosier Girls State on Feb. 11 at American Legion Post 85, in Huntington, at 2 p.m.

Girls who are in their junior year of high school and in the upper third of their class are invited to attend. Attendees will learn about Hoosier Girls State and the selection of delegates and alternates.
Hoosier Girls State will be held June 24 to 30 at Trine University, in Angola. It will be a week of government education. Mock political parties will be formed and each girl will participate by filing and running for election of a city, county or state office.

There is a pre-briefing online, which must be completed before attending Hoosier Girls State. There is a pre-briefing section for parents to view.

The American Legion auxiliary units and other sponsoring organizations cover all fees. The only expense for participants is traveling to Trine University.

The American Legion auxiliary units consist of Post 7 and Post 85, both in Huntington, and Post 160, in Roanoke.
