HU women fourth at Trine invite

Field events strength helped the Huntington University women’s track team to a fourth place finish this past weekend at the Don & Riley Zimmer Classic at Trine University.

Breanna Metz won the high jump with a leap of 4-5.25, and Jessica Chojnakci brought home first place in the 600-meter dash with a time of 1:46.11.

The Foresters scored 57 points. Defending national champion Indiana Tech won the meet with 150 points, followed by Trine with 117.5, Adrian with 88.5, HU, Indiana Tech Developmental with 55 and Rochester with 10.

Alyssabeth Cottle and Elise Cormany each posted a mark of 9-6.25 in pole vault to finish second and third, respectively, and Holley Holton added a fifth in weight throw with a toss of 39-9.5.

Nichael Pennington placed fourth in the 60-meter dash, in :08.21 and seventh in the 200-meter dash, in :27.56.

HU got a fourth place finish from its 1,600-meter relay team, which came home in 4:26.82.
