HNHS bowlers claim third at state tourney

The Huntington North High School boys’ bowling team finished third at the Indiana High School Bowling State Finals on Saturday, Feb. 3, at Championship Lanes, in Anderson.

The tournament commenced with 12 Baker games, which saw the Vikings topple 2,303 pins to claim second place out of 12 squads and advance to the four-team stepladder finals. In the finals, fourth-seeded Ben Davis defeated No. 3 seed Warsaw to set up a two-game match with Huntington North. Ben Davis beat the Vikings in the first game, 178-160, and again in the second, 244-208, to end their season by a score of 412-368.

Ben Davis went on to upset top seed Merrillville in the title match, 431-405, to capture the state crown.

In the singles tournament, Huntington North’s Bryan Harrell logged a score of 570 to place 15th out of 24 bowlers.
