The Huntington County Democratic Party recently elected new leaders.

Gary Beatty was elected chairman and Pat McCloskey was elected vice-chairman.

Beatty is a retired industrial buyer and has been a Huntington resident for more than 14 years.

He and his wife Linda have three sons and eight grandchildren.

McCloskey has been a Huntington resident since 2005 and retired from Our Sunday Visitor.

She has two daughters and four grandchildren.

Both Beatty and McCloskey have been active members of the Democratic party for several years, Beatty having served as vice chairman for the past two years. Both have served as Election Day poll workers and worked phone banks in 2016.

Beatty has served as precinct chairman for two years and both he and McCloskey are candidates for election to precinct chairperson in the May primary election.

“This year will be a big year for us, with renewed interest in candidates and positions which reflect our progressive values and oppose the president’s manhandling of our demo- cracy. We’re planning rallies for our district candidates and we want Huntington County Democrats to get active and step up to help Get Out The Vote,” Beatty says.
