Rose M. Westfall

Rose Marie Westfall, 85, of Van Buren, IN, died Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at 3:53 p.m. at Marion General Hospital in Marion, IN.

Mrs. Westfall was a 1950 graduate of Van Buren High School. After high school she attended Taylor University and graduated from the University of Nevada with a degree in elementary education. She graduated with her master’s degree in education from Ball State University. She was a teacher at Van Buren Elementary for 33 years, where she was the first kindergarten teacher in Van Buren and Washington Township.

She was a member of Epta Epsilon, Lioness Club and Grant County Farm Bureau. She was a lifetime member of the Van Buren Methodist Church.

She was born March 13, 1932, in Van Buren to Harrie and Celesta Anderson Plummer. She married Kenneth W. Westfall on Sunday, June 21, 1953, in Van Buren. Her husband survives.
 
Additional survivors include two sons, Jim (Brenda) Westfall, of Sweetser, and Dr. Mark (Pamela) Westfall, of Marion; two daughters, Jane (Bill) Hemmick and Debbie (Gary) DeLong, both of Van Buren; 11 grandchildren, Matthew (Mary) DeLong and Nathan (Tabitha) DeLong, both of Marion; Joshua DeLong, of Van Buren; Bradley (Morgan) Hemmick, of St. Louis, MO, Aaron (Lyndsay) Hemmick, of Elkhart; Caleb (Carli) Hemmick and Jamaica (Nick) Westfall-Snyder, both of Fort Wayne; Sara (Sean) Richardson, of Indianapolis, Michael (Katie) Westfall and Kristie (Kolby) Shultz, both of Sweetser, and Haley (Richard) Ladouceur, of Canton, NY; and 12 great-grandchildren.
 
Calling is Monday, March 12, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Van Buren United Methodist Fellowship Hall, 105 S. 2nd St., Van Buren. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the church, with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. John Parks will officiate, assisted by Rev. Lucinda Osgood. Interment will follow in the Gardens of Memory in rural Marion.
