Warren to pass rule concerning baseball diamond scheduling

Anyone who wants to use the baseball diamonds at Tower Park in Warren may soon be required to schedule the event through both the Warren Town Council and the baseball association.

The baseball association told the Warren Town Council during its meeting on Monday, March 9, that groups have been scheduling use of the baseball diamonds for tournaments without proper permission.

In order to use the park for a planned event, participants must receive approval from the baseball association as well as the town council. Because this procedure is not formally in the town code, action cannot be taken against those who violate the rule.

The council plans to incorporate that rule into the town code for adoption at the next meeting.

In other business Monday evening:

• The council discussed items considered for purchase by the downtown revitalization committee.

• Town officials announced that Marion Services will provide trash containers for the town's spring cleanup, which is scheduled for May 4-9.

• A change in the town code was recommended as to when disconnection of services would take place following non-payment. The code currently has varying disconnection policies for each service. The council hopes to amend the code to have a single disconnection policy for all services.
