Mary Jane Harris

Mary Jane Harris, 93, of Bluffton, and formerly of Huntington County, died Dec. 1, 20086, 2008, at 6:15 a.m., at Christian Care Retirement Community, Bluffton.

Mrs. Harris was a 1932 graduate of Jefferson Center High School, Huntington County, and a graduate of Marion Business College. She was a homemaker and helped operate the family farm. She had been employed in the accounting department of the Caylor-Nickel Clinic in Bluffton, Hoosier Grain and Supply Co., Producer's Creamery in Marion, and the Wells County Clerk's office. She was a 57-year member of the First United Methodist Church in Bluffton and had been a member of the Wells County Home Economics Club.

She was born Nov. 23, 1915, in Van Buren to Ross and Margaret Green Passmore. She married James O. Harris on June 22, 1940, in Marion. Her husband preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 2004.

Survivors include a son, Richard E. Harris, of Bluffton; a daughter, Lois Jean Gallaway, of New Mexico; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Dec. 19, 2008, at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home, Bluffton, with Rev. Cindy Osgood officiating. Burial was at the Elm Grove Cemetery, Bluffton.

Preferred memorials are gifts to the First United Methodist Church and the Christian Care Retirement Community, both in Bluffton.
