Rhonda K. Smith

Rhonda Kay Smith, 56, of rural Huntington, died Dec. 23, 2008, at 6 p.m. at her home.

Mrs. Smith drove a school bus for the Huntington County Community School Corporation for 27 years and had previously worked as a milk hauler.

She was a 1970 graduate of Huntington North High School. She volunteered as a 4-H leader of the Mighty Few Club for six years and attended the Banquo Christian Church.

She was born Aug. 24, 1952, in Grant County, to Ferris and Bonnie Camper Small. She is survived by her father and stepmother, Ferris and Mary June Small, of LaFontaine. She married Thomas Blane Smith May 6, 1972, in Roanoke. Her husband preceded her in death on May 27, 1995.

Additional survivors include three sons, Brandon (Delilah) Smith, of Huntington; Justin (Nikki) Smith, of Warren; and Tristen Smith, of Andrews; a daughter, Miranda Smith, of Huntington; a sister, Patlyn Small, of LaFontaine; and four brothers, Perry (Beverly) Small, of LaFontaine; Roger (Debbie) Small, of Warren; Russell Small, of Wabash; and Kyle (Dawn) Small, of LaFontaine.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, with Rev. Gary Riley officiating. Interment will be at the Lancaster Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are gifts to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home or to the American Diabetes Association, both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.
