Brock E. Bilyew

Brock Edward Bilyew, 40, of Fort Wayne, IN and a native of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Feb, 16, 2016, at 12:49 p.m. in Huntington County.

Mr. Bilyew graduated from Huntington North High School in 1993 and attended Northwestern Technical Institute in Lima, OH. He was a self-employed painter and a mechanic for Kelly Automotive in Fort Wayne.  

He was born Dec. 16, 1975, in Huntington to Barry Edward and Janet Eileen Garber Bilyew. His father survives in Huntington, and his mother survives in Fort Wayne.

Foresters lose late lead, game into OT to Cougars

The Huntington University men's basketball team couldn't hold a late lead and wound up an 88-84 loser to host Spring Arbor University in overtime on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

The Foresters, 13-16 overall on the season, were up by eight at 68-60 with 4:41 remaining in the game but got outscored by SAU, 8-21, to the tune of 14-6 down the stretch to send the game into overtime with a score of 74-all.

Zanesville council to learn more about meter-based sewage billing

The Zanesville Town Council plans to learn more about meter-based sewage billing after a citizen broached the topic at its meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

George Brostoski, who lives just outside the town limits on Feighner Road, shared with the board that he had explored the possibility of having a sewer meter installed on his property. Currently, the monthly sewer fee in Zanesville, which is paid to Fort Wayne City Utilities (FWCU), the owner of the town’s sewer system, is a flat fee for all residents, based on single-dwelling unit billing.

Paula G. Stoltz

Paula G. Stoltz, 76, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at 8 a.m. at Tipton Place.

Mrs. Stoltz cleaned homes for many years. She was a long-time member of Sigma Phi Gamma sorority and a member of American Legion Post 160, in Roanoke.

She was born March 12, 1939, in Huntington County to Paul E. and Leona Denney Smith.

Norman J. Hinman

Norman J. Hinman, 81, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at 12:15 a.m. at the Visiting Nurse Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.

Mr. Hinman graduated from Roanoke High School in 1953. He farmed in Clear Creek Township. He worked at Locke Steel Chain, in Huntington, and later worked for 20 years as a custodian for the Huntington County Community School Corporation. After retiring, he worked as a substitute custodian for the school corporation for 12 years. He mowed Funk Cemetery for 50 years.

Doris M. Green

Doris M. Green, 85, of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at 10:50 p.m. at the Visiting Nurse Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Green had worked at Sealtest, Memcor and Triad-Utrad. She was a member of the Huntington First Church of the Nazarene.

She was born March 24, 1930, in Huntington to Jacob C. and Edith E. Johnson Spath. She married Vernie Bruner in Huntington, and he preceded her in death in November of 1960. She married Roger Green in Clinton, VA, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 2010.

Patrick 'Pat' Sheerin

Patrick “Pat” Sheerin, 51, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at 8:02 a.m. at his home.

He was born Nov. 26, 1964, in Fort Wayne, a son of John Sheerin and Lucy Gundy. He is survived by his wife, Ellie Sheerin.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Stephanie (Travis) Watson and Rebekah Sheerin, both of Huntington; three sisters; a brother; and a grandson, Damon Reece Watson, of Huntington.

Maxine Monroe-Wright

Maxine Monroe-Wright, 85, of LaFontaine, IN, and having family members in Roanoke, IN, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at 12:55 a.m. at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, Huntington.

Mrs. Monroe-Wright was a homemaker. She sang in the church choir and served as a Sunday School teacher. She attended Grace Community Church and had been a member of Lincolnville United Methodist Church and Hanfield United Methodist Church.
