Huntington County Adult Education to hold a new student orientation

Huntington County Adult Education, provided by IMPACT Institute, will hold a new student orientation on Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. in the classroom located at 605 Polk St. (the former St. Peter Lutheran Church School), Huntington.

Representatives from WorkOne and BeSomeOneNow will share information regarding education, work certification and other program opportunities.

Those who desire to obtain a high school diploma should contact dbrauneller @fcavc.org or call 765-271-7949 to register for this event.

Miller’s Merry Manor to host Dec. 4 Senior party

The Huntington County Council on Aging’s December Senior Party will be held Thursday, Dec. 4, at 11:30 a.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor, 1500 Grant St., Huntington.

Miller’s Merry Manor’s staff will prepare a meal for this, the last Senior party of the year.

Reservations must be made by calling 359-4410. For a ride to the party call HAT at 356-3006. Rides must be reserved by noon one business day in advance.

Shepherd’s Pantry to distribute on Nov. 20

The Shepherd’s Food Pantry in Andrews will hold a food distribution on Thursday, Nov. 20.

Food items will be available for Andrews area residents between 10 a.m. and noon at 67 N. Snowden St., in Andrews. No appointment is necessary. Food is available on a first come, first served basis.

Participants must bring their own box or container for their food selections.

Taking apps for Miller Award now

Nominations for the Virginia Miller Award are being accepted by the Huntington County Historical Society.

This award is presented annually to a person or persons in recognition of the recipient’s interest and outstanding contribution to the preservation of local history.

Nominations may be called in to the Historical Museum at 356-7264. The deadline is Nov. 26.

Awarding humble students

Teens can make rubber band bracelets at library

The Huntington City-Township Public Library invites teens grades 6 through 12 to a free rubber band bracelet craft session at the Main Library on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 6:30 p.m.

Participants can create a colorful and unique bracelet solely from rubber bands, to keep or give to a friend or family member for the holidays.

Wrapping paper will be provided. Participants are advised to bring their own loom, though not required. Registration is required. Call the Main Library at 356-2900 to reserve a spot.

SSPP fish fry is Nov. 21

SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church will have an all-you-can-eat fish, chicken and tenderloin supper on Friday, Nov. 21, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The dinner will be held in the Rieder Auditorium of the church, located at 860 Cherry St., Huntington.

On the menu is fish, chicken, tenderloin, green beans, applesauce, bread, cookie and drink. Carry-out is available.

The meat will be prepared by Dan’s Fish Fry.

Tickets are available at a discount if purchased before the event, but may also be purchased at the door.
