Wyss, Griffiths re-elected to Indiana Soybean Alliance board

Don Wyss, of Wells County, and Thomas Griffiths, of Noble County, have been elected to second terms on the Indiana Soybean Alliance board of directors.

Wyss and Griffiths represent District 2, which includes Huntington County.

Their new terms begin in September.

The board helps direct Indiana Soybean Alliance programs designed to promote the success of the soybean industry in Indiana.

Pioneer Festival presents the 2012 Arrowhead Award

The award is presented annually to someone who has been integral in the success of the 37-year-old festival. Wall, the owner of Wehr Into Flowers until selling the business earlier this year, has decorated the festival stage for the past 13 years. Wall has also been active in other aspects of the festival.

Groups team up to encourage more recycling

In an effort to help encourage residents to clean up and recycle household waste tires, refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers and air conditioners, the Huntington Landfill and Huntington County Solid Waste Management District will be working together to offer all residents of Huntington County an opportunity to recycle tires and Freon-containing items free of charge.

Warren Town Council reschedules meeting to accommodate public hearing

The Warren Town Council has rescheduled its November meeting to accommodate a public hearing for the 2012 planning grant currently being completed.

The meeting, which was scheduled for Nov. 12, has been moved to Nov. 19 at 5:30 p.m. in Assembly Hall, 131 N. Wayne St., Warren.

The public hearing will follow the council's regular meeting.

 

PCC to host four-week financial wellness seminars

Pathfinder Community Connections, the community development division of Pathfinder Services, will host a four-week series of financial wellness seminars beginning in October.
Workshops will be held at Pathfinder Community Connections, located at 2824 Theater Ave., in Huntington, on four Wednesdays beginning Oct. 3.
The same series will be offered at the Pathfinder Community Connections office at 3326 S. Calhoun St., Suite 102, Fort Wayne, on four Thursdays beginning Oct. 16.

Christian authors to discuss upcoming election Oct. 9 at HU

Two evangelical Christian authors who hold widely different political views will discuss politics and the upcoming election on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. at Huntington University.

Lisa Sharon Harper and Dr. David Innes will discuss their recent book, "Left, Right, and Christ: Evangelical Faith in Politics." They will take questions from the audience.

United Way Team Mini-Triathlon winners

Second place went to Tracey Blocker, Fred Stevens and Bryan Cripe of Team Bendix. Placing third were Jeff Hedrick, Cody Hannie and Nate Campbell of Team Schenkel's.

Roanoke Brethren Church offers free dinner

The Roanoke Brethren Church continues to host a free community dinner on the second Tuesday of each month.

The next meal will be served on Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The community is invited to attend.

The church is also selling frozen apple dumplings, while they last.

The church is located on the corner of Main and Coe streets, in Roanoke.
