Bruce Thurman

Bruce Thurman, 54, of Van Buren, IN, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at 6 a.m. at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

Mr. Thurman was a farmer all of his life on the Thurman family farm near Van Buren. He was also a certified sound technician. He was a 1976 graduate of Eastbrook High School and a member of the Van Buren United Methodist Church in Van Buren. He attended the Christland United Methodist Church in Marion

He was born Oct. 16, 1957, to Alfred and Doris Ford Thurman. He married Tracy J. King. She survives.

Schnitz throws 4 TDs but North Side topples Vikes, 51-25

Four touchdown passes by quarterback Drew Schnitz wasn't enough to lift the Huntington North High School varsity football team over host Fort Wayne North Side on Friday, Aug. 24, as the Vikings lost, 51-25.

Schnitz completed 18 of 34 passes for 303 yards and the four scoring tosses, along with a pair of interceptions. The senior was also the team's leading rusher, gaining 51 yards on 16 carries.

Ten-month-old Lilly Forney, held by mom Randi Forney while dad Dustin Forney stands behind, was named cutie princess at the Andrews Western Days on Friday evening, Aug. 24. Adrian Huston was named cutie prince, but was not in atendance for the announcement.

Vicki E. Stoffel

Vicki E. Stoffel, 55, of Andrews, IN, died Aug. 24, 2012, at 8:49 a.m. at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Stoffel graduated from Huntington North High School in 1974. She was administrative assistant in the prosecutor's office of Huntington County. She served on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Huntington County and was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

She was born Sept. 8, 1956, in Huntington, to Glenn and Marie Cowart Hall. They survive in Huntington. She married Terry Stoffel on Dec. 28, 1985. He survives.

Earl R. 'Mouse' James

Earl Rodney "Mouse" James, 58, of Van Buren, and having family members in Roanoke, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at 2:45 p.m. at Markle Health & Rehabilitation, Markle.

Mr. James had worked for Corning Glass in Bluffton. He was a former resident of Jackson Township, Wells County, and was a 1972 graduate of Southern Wells High School.

He was born March 23, 1954, in Bluffton to I. Richard and Cora Lea Banter James. His mother survives in Bluffton.
