HNHS boys' tennis team slips to Logansport, 3-2

The Huntington North High School boys' varsity tennis team fell to visiting Logansport 3-2 on Thursday, Sept. 10.

At first singles, Viking David Ballard won his match against Jordan McGuire 6-3, 1-6, 6-4, while Phil Truitt at third singles defeated Austin Johanning 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

At second singles, Huntington North's Chris Royer fell to Evan Clem 1-6, 1-6.

In doubles, the duo of Christian Webb and Ian Kardatzke lost to Logansport's Jacob McCord and Andrew Rowe 2-6, 3-6, and the pair of Adam Klaffke and Neal Hamilton fell to Alex Miracle and Kevin Leung 1-6, 5-7.

Riverview volleyball teams lose openers to Northfield

The Riverview Middle School eighth grade volleyball team fell to Northfield in the first match of the school's season on Thursday, Sept. 10.

Scores were 25-15, 11-25 and 12-15.

Lindsey Foster led the Riveview with eight points. Alexa Shoemaker had five points and Cassy Lange had four points.

The Riverview seventh grade team also lost to Northfield in three games, 23-25, 25-11 and 10-15.

Brianna Monroe had 10 total points, Tasha Grover had nine points and Devin Powell had four points.

Huntington Catholic volleyball team loses to Canterbury

The Huntington Catholic School's eighth grade volleyball team lost to Canterbury in three games, 18-25, 25-21, 5-15 on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Katelyn Niswander had eight total points, and Courtney Scher and Alexandra Kreider each had four points.

 

Crestview volleyball teams lose to Lakeview

The Crestview Middle School eighth grade volleyball team lost to Lakeview in two games, 20-25, 19-25, on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Jessica Drew totaled 10 points for Crestview with two aces, four blocks and three kills. Erin Rethlake had three aces and two kills. Josie Beaver had one ace and three kills.

Tuesday's game left Crestview 1-1 on the season.

Crestview's seventh grade volleyball team also fell to Lakeview in two sets, 0-25, 14-25.

HAHE Eagles 3-1 in recent volleyball efforts

The Varsity Huntington Lady Eagles volleyball team has played in four matches in the last two weeks.

The first was against the W.A.C.H.E. Warriors of Bluffton on Aug. 28.

The Lady Eagles lost in three games, 21-25, 21-25 and 19-25.

Marina Stoffel led the defense with 29 digs, and Rebecca Daniels added 22 digs and 10 blocks.

Kaleigh Shultz had 10 assists to lead the offense.

The Lady Eagles next went to Indianapolis on Aug. 31 to face the Wabash Valley Warriors. They won 3-1.

Rev. Chester F. Pasko, 91, of Muncie, IN, and a native of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 9, 2009, at his home.
