Lugar challenger Mourdock to speak Monday at HNHS

The Huntington TEA Party will host U.S. Senate candidate Richard Mourdock (R) during an event on Monday, July 25, at 7 p.m. at the Huntington North High School auditorium.

The free event is open to the public. Mourdock is currently the Indiana State Treasurer. He is challenging Sen. Richard Lugar (R-IN) for the 2012 election.

Autism group to meet

The local autism support group meets today from 6 to 8 p.m., at Café of Hope in Huntington.

Kelly Pence, District 3 ally of the Autism Society of Indiana, will be the guest speaker.

Nelson to lead seminar at Victory Noll on Aug. 27

Victory Noll Center will host "Transitions and Discerning a New Direction" on Saturday, Aug. 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sister Mary Jo Nelson of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters will lead participants in exploring what it means to listen to life and understanding the landscape of discern-ment  and decision-making. She says the process could be helpful to the college student, men and women in a midlife transition, those facing serious decisions or for those in transition into retirement.

Marjorie K. Bowden

Marjorie Kay Bowden, 73, of Savoy, IL, and a former resident of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at 7 a.m. at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

Mrs. Bowden was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Champaign, IL, as well as Church Women United and WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). She volunteered at the Grace Lutheran Food Pantry and McKinley's Scot-Free Clothing Exchange.

She was born Nov. 27, 1937, in Huntington to Paul and Katherine Marshall Whitacre. Her mother survives in Fort Wayne.

Dorotha Brown

Dorotha Brown, 93, of Warren, IN, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Heritage Pointe in Warren.

Mrs. Brown attended Jefferson Center High School. She had been employed at Miller's Merry Manor, Evergreen Manor and the Unlack Chain, all of Huntington, and retired from the Huntington Nursing Home in 1974. She attended Lancaster Wesleyan Church.

She was born April 5, 1918, in Wells County to Russell E. and Glagie Izetta Myers Allen. She married John J. Brown on Dec. 28, 1942, and he preceded her in death on July 18, 2001.

Results have been announced for the 2011 Huntington County 4-H Fair Llama Show.

The show was held on Monday, July 18, at the Chief LaFontaine SaddleClub.

Stephanie Glessner was named overall champion.

Rachelle Mann is the reserve champion.
