Charlotte E. Funk

Charlotte Funk, 87, of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at 10:28 a.m. at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Mrs. Funk graduated from Laconia (IN) High School in 1940 and attended interior decorating school in Chicago, IL. She was retired from Indiana Bell Telephone Company after having worked for 17 years in the Fort Wayne and Huntington offices.

She was a member of Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church, Roanoke; Bell Telephone Pioneers, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689 Auxiliary and Moose Lodge 837, all in Huntington; and the Elks Lodge in Edgewater, FL.

She was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Laconia, to Robert and Crystal Charlotte King Denbo. She married James O. Funk on Oct. 5, 1940, in Corydon. Her husband preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1992.

Survivors include a son, Rodney G. (Sandy) Funk, of Roanoke; a brother, James (Mary) Denbo, of Indianapolis; a sister, Laura Clark, of Indianapolis; and a granddaughter, Tiffany (Jim) Bull, of Clinton, IA.

A service was held Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, with Rev. Sally Gilbert officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Chapel Cemetery, Roanoke.

Pallbearers were Mike Denbo, Chuck Denbo, Stan Denbo, Cory Falk, Glen May and Justin Bishcoff. Honorary pallberers were Jeff Clark, Jerry Clark, Jim Clark, Ed Moore, Jim Bull, Terry Harrell, Ron Merritt and Kristen Bischoff.

Preferred memorials are gifts to the Pleasant Chapel Cemetery Fund in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington, IN 46750.
