Charles D. 'Chuck' Saner

Charles D. "Chuck" Saner, 70, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, June 8, 2009, at 3:05 p.m. at Hospice Home of Fort Wayne.

Mr. Saner had previously lived in Akron and Warren. He retired in 1998 from Sealed Power of Rochester, where he had worked for 32 years. He had previously been employed by Pike Lumber Company of Akron. He raced stock cars at the Warsaw Speedway under the name "Farmer Saner."

He was a 1957 graduate of Akron High School and a member of New Beginning Worship Center in Huntington, where he played the bass guitar.

He was born Dec. 21, 1938, in Fulton County to Homer C. and Ferrell Schindler Saner. His first marriage was in October 1958 to Faye Shelmadine, who preceded him in death in March 1985. He married Lily B. Chapman on April 12, 1986, in Huntington; she survives.

Additional survivors include five daughters, Dianna (Ron) Baker, of Warsaw; Lynette (Robert) Howat, of Syracuse; Yvonne (Trent) Grage, of Little Rock, AR; Crissy (Jesse) Allison, of Silver Lake; and Stella Bradford, of North Manchester; a brother, Fred (Wilodene) Sander, of Silver Lake; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A service was held at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, on Thursday, June 11, 2009, with Rev. Taylor Whitaker officiating. Burial was at Silver Creek Cemetery, Silver Lake.
