Phyllis L. Wolfcale

Phyllis L. Wolfcale, 80, of Bluffton, IN, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at 6:10 p.m. at Heritage Pointe in Warren, IN.

Mrs. Wolfcale, a 1946 graduate of Bluffton High School, built and founded Hickory Hills Golf Course in Bluffton with her husband and was active in the golf business. She had also worked in the X-ray department at the Caylor Nickel Clinic, did laundry for the Caylor-Nickel nursery in her home for 20 years, and retired after 14 years as a cook at East Side High School.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church; a lifelong member of Tri Kappa, where she had served as president; and a member of the Parlor City Ladies Golf Group.

She was born Sept. 25, 1928, in Bluffton to Frank and Ethel Gentis Neff. She married Roland “Rollie” Wolfcale on May 27, 1948, in Bluffton. Her husband preceded her in death on May 26, 2006.

Survivors include her children, Constance Joyce (Ned) Bade, of Fort Mills, SC; Sally Jean (Mark) Welker, of Roanoke; David Neal Wolfcale, of Detroit, MI; and Katrina Lynn (Brian) Covey, of Queen Creek, AZ; a sister, Carolyn Rose (R. Keith) Wehner, of Florida; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A service was held Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church, Bluffton. Burial was at Six Mile Cemetery, Bluffton.
