Charles E. Poteet

Charles E. Poteet, 85, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, July 9, 2009, at 1:15 p.m. at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Mr. Poteet had worked for 26 years as a night supervisor at Good Humor-Breyers and its predecessor, Sealtest. He had also worked at the United States Post Office in Andrews for 22 years. He was a member of the Shepherds Chapel Church in Gravette, AR; a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Virginia.

He was born Oct. 5, 1923, in Dunbar, VA, to James G. and Nannie Clark Poteet. He married Edna F. Wright on June 16, 1945, in Lodden, England. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, James Poteet, of Huntington, and Paul Poteet, of Carmel; a daughter, Karen McEntarfer, of Huntington; a brother, James Poteet, of Flat Rock, MI; a sister, Mary Gutierrez, of Lincoln Park, MI; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Calling is Monday, July 13, 2009, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a service following at 1 p.m., at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. Rev. Brooks Fetters will officiate. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Andrews.
