Darl D. Caley

Darl D. Caley, 78, of Huntington, IN, died Friday, July 10, 2009, at 8:30 a.m. at his home.

Mr. Caley graduated from Huntington High School in 1948 and served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954. He was the owner of Caley's Servicenter in Huntington for 43 years, retiring in 1998. He also worked with his father at the Geede-Corey Hardware Store in Huntington from 1954-1973. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2689 and Masonic Lodge 483 F & A.M

He was born July 24, 1930, in Wells County to Lloyd and Vera Schoeff Caley. He married Jean M. McInnis on March 31, 1954, in Bangor, ME. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Steve Caley, of Atlanta, GA, and Gregg Caley, of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Pam Hesting, of Huntington; a brother, Duwane Caley of Huntington; a sister, Bonnie Ostrow, of Huntington; and six grandchildren, Ryan Caley, Megan Caley, David Caley, Tim Hesting, Matt Hesting and Laura Hesting.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Bailey_Love Mortuary, with. Rev. Ray Seilhamer officiating. Burial was at the Gardens of Memory, Marion.

Pallbearers were Megan Caley, Ryan Caley, David Caley, Matt Hesting, Tim Hesting and Laura Hesting. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Isaacs, Bob Koehlinger, Loren Hannum, Stan Bipppus, Chuck Snyder, Ralph Wiggins and Kenny Buzzard.

Military rites were performed by VFW Post 2689. Flag folders were Jerry Walling and Jerry Helms. The honor guard was comprised of Dustin Howell, John Stoffel, Harold Bennett, Carl Smith and Mike Hilton. Cannon and taps were done by Mike Smith and Rodney Funk.
