Gloria L. Wall, 64, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at 5:41 a.m. at the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Wall, a 1965 graduate of Clear Creek High School, earned a bachelor's degree in consumer family sciences from Purdue University and a master's degree from Simmons College in Boston, MA. She worked as a registered dietician for Parkview, St. Joseph and Huntington hospitals and was named Young Dietician of the Year by the Indiana Dietetic Association in 1977.
Mrs. Wall also did consulting work for Pathfinder Services and other area organizations. She was a regional program specialist for northeast Indiana for IN*SOURCE (Indiana Resource Center for Special Needs), a parent advocacy group. She was appointed by the governor to the Indiana Commission on Rehabilitation Services and was serving her second three-year term on the commission.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she had served on the board of trustees. She was a four-year member and past president of the Huntington County Community Schools Board of Trustees. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a past president of the Fort Wayne Doll Club.
She was born Feb. 16, 1947, in Fort Wayne to Willard J. and Wanda Putman Leonard. Her mother survives in Fort Wayne. She married James F. Wall on June 28, 1974, in Huntington. Her husband survives.
Additional survivors include a son, J. Ryan (Kristy) Wall, of Huntington; a daughter, Erin R. Wall, of Huntington; a brother, Daniel (Lydia) Leonard, of Huntington; and two grandsons, Dylan Wall and Alexander Wall, both of Huntington.
Calling is Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A service will be held on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 530 Guilford St., Huntington. Rev. David Ballinger will officiate. Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington.
