Velma McCracken, 84, of Fort Wayne, IN, and formerly of Huntington, IN, died Jan. 29, 2012, at 7:20 a.m. at Renaissance Village, in Fort Wayne.

Mrs. McCracken was a member of the Eagle Lodge 3512 and American Legion Post 499, both in Fort Wayne.

She was born Jan. 25, 1928, to Frank and Esther Nunemaker Denton in Huntington. She married Robert McCracken on Nov. 30, 1940, in Huntington. He preceded her in death in 1998.

Survivors include two daughters, Vivian (James) Rodman, of Fort Wayne, and Erma (Steve) Schnitz, of Huntington; a sister, Josephine Sands, of Huntington; a brother, Richard (Joyce) Denton, of Huntington; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Calling is Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. A memorial service will follow the calling at 5 p.m. Private burial will be at a later date.
