N. Claudine Stroup, 89, of Columbia, MD, and having family members in Warren, IN, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at Somerford Place in Columbia, MD.

Mrs. Stroup, a former resident of Hartford City, graduated from Jackson Center High School in 1940 and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hartford City. She had lived in Columbia, MD, for eight years.

She was born June 16, 1922, in Wells County to Claude and Cecil Burklo Gilbert. She married Rolland E. Stroup on Feb. 3, 1940, in Wells County. Her husband preceded her in death on June 8, 2001.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen (Fritz) Brosien, of North Canton, OH; a son, Rolland (Maryld) Stroup Jr., of Bridgeville, DE; a brother John (Kate) Gilbert, of Warren; five grandchildren, Mara Schurdell, of Cleveland, OH; Kevin Stroup, of Brunswick, OH; Alex Stroup, of Seaford, DE; Randy Stroup, of Columbia, MD; and Jonathan Stroup, of Baltimore, MD; and five great-grandchildren.

Calling is Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, from noon to 2 p.m. at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier. A service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Dick Frederick officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery, Montpelier.
