Anthony Wayne "Tony" Bickel, 67, of Huntington, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012 at 4 a.m. at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, Huntington.
Mr. Bickel graduated from Huntington Catholic High School in 1963 and was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was a self-employed timber buyer and had worked for W&W Concrete, as a truck driver and as a Huntington firefighter.
He was born June 14, 1944, in Huntington to Norbert Edward and Garnet Mary Fulton Bickel.
Survivors include a daughter, Tami (Chad) Newsome, of Andrews; six sisters, Annie (Clete) Olinger, Rita (Paul) Kulb and Sondra (Carl) Ness, all of Huntington; Nancy Burnau, of Fort Wayne; Charlotte (Leroy) Smart, of Roanoke; and Pam (Steve) Fleck, of Andrews; six brothers, Jim (Eve) Bickel, Dan (Myra) Bickel, Joe (Jannie) Bickel, Pat (Martha) Bickel and Mark (Debbie) Bickel, all of Huntington; and Fritz (Gay) Bickel, of Roanoke; and two grandchildren, Tori Newsome and Lucas Newsome, both of Andrews.
Calling is Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A service will follow at 11 a.m. at the mortuary, with Rev. John Pfister officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Roanoke, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689.
