Don E. Slusher, 75, of Warren, IN, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at 9:58 p.m. at his residence in Warren.
Mr. Slusher was a 1956 graduate of Jackson Township High School. He worked as an electrician in the maintenance department at the Marion VA hospital in Marion for 26 years. He was an auctioneer and owner/operator along with his wife Janet of the Trading Post Auction House in Warren. He served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War as an Airborne quartermaster, and was also stationed in Italy, Spain, Germany, France and England. He was a member of the Van Buren American Legion Post 368 in Van Buren.
He was born April 28, 1937, in Wells County. He married Janet M. Long on May 12, 1962, in Warren. She survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Sheryl S. Slusher and Brenda J. (Scott) Whitaker, both of Warren; a son, Donald E. Slusher II, of Warren; three sisters, Jane Haley, of Huntington; Donna McFarland, of Bluffton; and Gladys Huffman, of Florida; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Calling is Thursday, June 14, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, June 15, 2012, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home 203 N Matilda St., Warren. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home, with Rev. Dewey Zent officiating. Interment will follow in the Jones Cemetery Wells County.
