Robert Wayne "Bob" Deal, 85, of Huntington, IN, died Friday, June 15, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at The Heritage of Huntington.

Mr. Deal served in the United States Navy, and graduated from the Indiana Mortuary College in Indianapolis in 1948. He and his wife moved to Huntington County in 1953, purchasing a funeral home in Andrews and naming it the Deal Funeral Home. In 1973 the Deals purchased the Robbins Funeral Home in Huntington, changing the name to the Deal and Robbins Funeral Home. The Deals retired from active participation in the funeral business in 1986.

He was born Nov. 5, 1926, in Randolph County to Fred and Mildred L. Cecil Deal. He married Vera A. Nielsen on Aug. 10, 1952, in Union City. She preceded him in death on March 27, 2011.

Survivors include three sons Peter (Debra) Deal, of Midland, MI; Timothy (Kathy) Deal, of Andrews; and Philip (Janet) Deal, of Cedar Hill, TX; a brother, Leo (Nola) Deal, of East Lansing, MI; eight grandchildren, Laura (Sheldon) Cooper, Christel (David) Mulder, Adam (Erin) Deal, Jenna (Jason) Wolfgang, Nycia Deal, Jordan (Janna) Deal, Rebekah Deal and Aaron (Allie) Deal; and eight great-grandchildren.

Calling is Wednesday, June 20, 2012, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Deal-Rice Funeral Home-Huntington Chapel, 338 E. Washington St., Huntington. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 21, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Andrews.
