Irene V. Wasson, 92, died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at 10 p.m. at Heritage Pointe, in Warren, IN, where she had resided the past six years.
Mrs. Wasson graduated from Lancaster Central High School in 1938 and worked on the family farm. She was a member of a home economics club and the Lancaster Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was born April 11, 1920, in Huntington to Charles H. and Hazel I. Miller Smith. She married Ner William Wasson on May 3, 1938, in Craigville. Her husband preceded her in death on March 18, 2006.
Survivors include six daughters, Suzanne (David) Beeler, of Camp Verde, AZ; Janet (Rich) Johnson, of Coldwater, MI; Rosemary (Terry) Renbarger, of Sweetser; Rebecca (Terry) Tyler, of Nappanee; Debra (Don) Lockwood, of Ossian; and Merianne (Larry) DeWitt, of Scottsburg; two sisters, Joyce Decker, of Goldsboro, NC, and Joan Malmstrom, of Visalia, CA; 17 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Calling is Wednesday, June 27, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Goodwin Memorial Chapel, 3220 E. Ind.-124, Bluffton. A service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Terry Tyler and Rev. Larry DeWitt will officiate. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Bluffton.
