Jerry C. Simmons, 71, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, June 25, 2012, at 12:40 a.m. at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Simmons worked for Schneider Electric (formerly Square D) for 48 years. He served in the United States National Guard for several years.

He was born May 12, 1941, in Kentland to Clarence A. and Ruby B. Timmons Simmons. He married Ima Jean Short Pinkerton on July 2, 1971, in Roanoke. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include two stepdaughters, Beth (Bill)Armstrong and Teresa Pinkerton, both of Huntington; a stepson, Charles "Chuck" Pinkerton, of Huntington; a sister, Jan Bieghler, of Huntington; and seven grandchildren, including Joseph Pinkerton.

Calling is Tuesday, June 26, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at 3 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 648 N. LaFontaine St., Huntington, with Rev. Richard Lofgren officiating. Interment will be at Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
