Harold Leon Ralston, 76, of Fort Wayne, IN, and a native of Huntington County, IN, died Monday, June 25, 2012, at Parkview Hospital.
Mr. Ralston was a member of the First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne, where he worked and later volunteered as a custodian. He provided alternative service to his country as a volunteer with the Brethren Church, rebuilding a school in Vienna, Austria, that had been destroyed.
He retired from GE in the late 1980s and continued to farm with his father. He had worked in a tomato factory as a young man.
He was born May 28, 1936, in Huntington County to Frank and Gladys Bowman Ralston. He is survived by four sisters, Carmen (Jerald) Vaught, of Angola; Gloria (Jim) Hudlow, of Bedford; Ladonna (Robert) Jackson IV, of Fort Wayne; and Wanda (Terry) Helser, of Scheneous, NY; and a brother, Marvin (Linda) Ralston, of Fort Wayne.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 300 E. Wayne St., Fort Wayne, with Rev. Greg Enstrom officiating. Mr. Ralston's ashes will be scattered along the Wabash River at a later date.
