Mary M. VanOver

Mary M. VanOver, 75, of Bluffton, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at 9:40 p.m. at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center, Bluffton.

Mrs. VanOver was retired from the Caylor-Nickel Clinic, Bluffton, where she had worked as a cook in the food services department for 30 years. She was a member of the Domestic Church of Christ.

She was born Oct. 3, 1933, in Hardburly, KY, to Joseph and Essie York Carroll. She was married to Darnell VanOver for 32 years before they divorced. He died in December 2008.

Surviving are a son, Curtis (Lori) VanOver, of Huntington; three daughters, Denise Jackson, of Ossian; Sheila (Dave) Stanton, of Geneva; and Jolene (Gary) Kessie, of Columbia City; five sisters, Dorothy Singleton, of Otway, OH; Mildred Jamison, of Peebles, OH; Edith Vest, of New Port Richie, FL; Lois Gilbert, of New Carlisle, OH; and Doris Gore, of Bluffton; a brother, Chester Carroll, of Dayton, OH; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home, 308 W. Washington St., Bluffton. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at 3 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Alan Crull will officiate. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Wells County.

Preferred memorials are gifts to the Church of Christ in Domestic or the Church of Christ in Poneto.
