Shirley Ann Risser, 76, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at 4:26 a.m. at her home.

Mrs. Risser graduated from Huntington High School in 1953 and attended Indiana University, Bloomington, and Strayer Business College, Washington, DC. She was a self-employed interior decorator in Huntington County. She was a former member of Tri Kappa Sorority and attended New Hope United Brethren Church, both in Huntington.

She was born Sept. 2, 1935, in Fort Sill, OK, to Maj. Gen. Byron L., M.D., and Delene Elizabeth Lobdell Steger. She was also raised by her stepmother, Mary Steger, and stepfather, Samuel Wasmuth. She married Max Eugene Risser on Nov. 19, 1955, in Huntington. Her husband survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Lori Ann (Jack) Casey, of Lexington, KY, and Melisa Ann (Dan) Caffoe, of Huntington; a son, Stanton Eugene (Kimberly Jo) Risser, of Spencerville; a sister, Sara (Kent) Paul, of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Phillip (Diane) Wasmuth, of Wolfboro, NH, and Col. (Ret.) Robert L. (Anna) Steger, of Olympia, WA; seven grandchildren, Drew Clark, Ryan Casey, Amanda Casey, Emily Ditzel, Kali Irving, Courtney Irving and Hannah Risser and two great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, July 22, 2012, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A service will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012, at 10 a.m. at New Hope United Brethren Church, 2001 Engle St., Huntington. Rev. Ray Seilhamer will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Huntington.
