Velma W. "Deanie" VanBlaricon, 88, of Marion, IN, and a native of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at 3:30 a.m. at Marion General Hospital.

Mrs.VanBlaricon retired from Foster Forbes, where she worked as a receptionist, and volunteered at the hospital for many years. She was a member and volunteer at the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Department Club.

She was born April 27, 1924, in Huntington to Willis and Rose Mahoney Jeffrey. She married Gerald E. VanBlaricon in 1945, and he preceded her in death in 1997.

Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca (William) Stubbs, of Richland, MI; a brother, Robert Sirk, of Marion; two grandchildren, Kimberly (Fredrik) Knutsen, of Houston, TX, and Mark Stubbs, of Portage, MI; and two great-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, Aug.3, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Aug.4, 2012, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Tom Ream officiating. Burial will be at Grand Memorial Park, Marion.

Preferred memorials are gifts to the First United Methodist Church, 624 S. Adams St., Marion, IN, or Miller's Merry Manor, 505 N. Bradner Ave., Marion, IN.
