Helen L. Crowell, 92, of Columbia City, IN, and a native of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at 2:10 a.m. at The Oaks Living Center.
Mrs. Crowell graduated from high school in Huntington and lived in Huntington until moving to Lake Webster in 1984. She was employed by Dana Weatherhead for 40 years, retiring in 1984. She had been a member of Eagles Lodge 1906 Auxiliary, Theo Club and Huntington Firemen's Women's Auxiliary.
She was born Feb. 14, 1920, in Huntington to Ora and Alice B. Neal Ward. She married Walter D. "Bud" Crowell on Oct. 22, 1948. Her husband preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1987.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon (Michael) Mathews, of Martinsville; a brother, Marvin Ward, of North Webster; two grandchildren, Michele Mathews and Sean Mathews, both of Martinsville; and five great-grandchildren.
Calling is Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at 2 p.m., with calling two hours prior to the service, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 207 N. Main St., Columbia City. Burial will be at South Park Cemetery.
