Alfred R. Gordon, 84, of Rockcreek Township, Wells County, IN, and having ties to Huntington County, IN, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Gordon graduated in 1946 from Rockcreek High School and was a lifelong farmer in Rockcreek Township, both in Wells County. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bluffton.
He was born June 6, 1928, in Rockcreek Township, Wells County, to Robert Ray and Carrie Alice Foster Gordon. He married Gloria E. Stoffel on Nov. 26, 1949, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Huntington. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Daniel R. (Beth) Gordon, of Rockcreek Township, Wells County; a daughter, Connie M. (Tim) Brennan, of Naperville, IL; and seven grandchildren, Robert Gordon, John Gordon, Lizzie Gordon, Katherine Gordon, Philip Gordon, Will Brennan and Mike Brennan.
A service will be held on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bluffton. Rev. Francis Chukwuma will officiate. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, Bluffton.
Preferred memorials are gifts to the Society of St. Vincent dePaul or to the church for Masses.
Goodwin Memorial Chapel, Bluffton, is in charge of arrangements.
