Virgia Anna Smith, 89, formerly of Urbana, IN, and having relatives in Huntington County, IN, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at 7:28 p.m. at Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center in LaFontaine.

She was born Aug. 8, 1923, in Wabash County to Burvia and Mabel Long Hoover. She married Lowell Schnepp in Wabash County on Sept. 7, 1941; he preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1979. She then married Howard Smith in Bradenton, FL, on Jan. 21, 1994; he preceded her in death on March 6, 2005.

Mrs. Smith was a 1941 graduate of Urbana High School. She worked at First National Bank in Wabash, retiring in 1993, and also worked at Cyclone Seeder, in Urbana. She was a member of the Urbana Yoke Parish and a former member and past worthy matron of the Lagro Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are four daughters, Sandra Kay (Gene) Floyd, of LaFontaine, Barbara Ann (Charles) Sesco and Sharon Lee (Alan) Stackhouse, both of Wabash; and Becky Sue (Gerald) Marsh, of Fort Wayne; two sons, Larry (Jayne) Schnepp, of Wabash, and Dennis (Sherri) Schnepp, of Port Charlotte, FL; six sisters, Doris Mattern and Ethel Fogel, both of Wabash; Norma Wilcox, of North Manchester; Mary Schenkel, of Andrews; Irene (Larry "Doc") Donaldson, of Roann; and Nancy (Max) Neher, of Madison; three brothers, Harvey Hoover, of Urbana, and Larry (Jane) Hoover and Fred (Mel) Hoover, both of Wabash; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Servia.
