Harriet Ruth Seaman 92, of Decatur, IN, and a native of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at the Woodcrest Nursing Center, Decatur.
Mrs. Seaman was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Decatur, and the church's Martha Circle. She worked as a cook at Monmouth Elementary School for 28 years, retiring in 1979.
She was born Nov. 21, 1919, in Huntington to Harvey R. and Gertrude B. Aker Clark. She married Wendell J. Seaman on Dec. 15, 1939, in Markle. Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 2011.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann (Dan) Bieberich, of Decatur; three brothers, Ross (Jackie) Clark, of Greenfield, OH, and Dale (Stella) Clark and Joe Clark, both of Andrews; a sister, Mildred Tullis, of Orland; two grandchildren, Lisa (Marlin) Scheumann and Lana (Sam) Griffiths, both of Decatur; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Calling is Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Woodcrest Chapel, Decatur, and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. A service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Decatur, with Rev. Michael Heinbaugh officiating. Burial will be at the Decatur Cemetery.
