Wayne H. Taylor, 88, of Fort Wayne, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Lutheran Life Villages, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Taylor was a pilot with the 394th Bomb Squadron of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He worked as a carpenter and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 806, of Fort Wayne. He was also a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, and American Legion Post 241, Waynedale.
He was born Dec. 13, 1923, in Ossian to Benjamin H. and Almira Johnson Taylor. He married Helen J. Neiford on Nov. 1, 1947, in Van Wert, OH, and she preceded him in death in 1971. He married Martha Ann Meckstroth Hower in 1974, and she preceded him in death in September, 2005.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Yoquelet, of Fort Wayne, and Jenny (Gerry) Hunter, of Indianapolis; a son, Steven Taylor, of Fort Wayne; four stepdaughters, Karen Cramer and Patricia (Bill) Greve, both of Fort Wayne; Merry (Rick) Hahnert, of Kendallville; and Ana Wells, of Independence, MO; a sister, Annabelle Notestine, of Huntington; 11 step-grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
A service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at 2 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1819 Reservation Drive, Fort Wayne. Burial will be at Prairie Grove Cemetery, Fort Wayne, with military honors conducted by the Honor Guard Team of American Legion Post 241, Waynedale, and active duty U.S. Army troops.
Preferred memorials are gifts to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
