Gene A. Hix, 79, a resident of Heritage Pointe, in Warren, died Tuesday evening, Aug. 21, 2012, at Heritage Pointe.

Mr. Hix was a former resident of Marion. He was a dairy farmer and a member of the Van Buren United Methodist Church, in Van Buren.

He was born Nov. 7, 1932, in Grant County to Paul and Geraldine Zoda Hix. He married Jondajane Ford on Jan. 3, 1959, in Hanfield. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Randy Hix, of Coral Springs, FL, and Ricky Hix, of Marion; a daughter, Candy (Brian) McVay, of Marion; a brother, Robert (Becky) Hix, of Marion; two sisters, Margaret Brown and Jeanette Douglas, both of Marion; four grandchildren, Bryana (Luke) Turner, Jenni (Matt) Brown, Tabitha McVay and Kyle Hix, all of Marion; and seven great-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ferguson & Glancy Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Van Buren. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m., with Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Interment will be at the Van Buren Cemetery, Van Buren.
