Mary Martha Scheiber, 82, of Toledo, OH, and formerly of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at 1:50 a.m. in Toledo, where she had resided the last four years.
Mrs. Scheiber graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing, Fort Wayne, as a registered nurse. She worked as a surgical nurse and later gave care at nursing homes. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where she served on the parish council and was active in the Gollner Guild. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
She was born Oct. 20, 1929, in Ossian to Joseph and Mamie Burns Solms. She married Richard B. Scheiber in 1950. He preceded her in death in 1992
Survivors include a daughter, Marianne (Thomas) Countryman, of Smyrna, GA; four sons, Andrew (Mary Lou) Scheiber, of West St. Paul, MN; Phillip (Leanne) Scheiber, of New Prague, MN; Matthew (Carol) Scheiber, of Toledo, OH; and Thomas (Blanca) Scheiber, of Chicago, IL; two brothers, Joseph (Peggy) Solms, of Colorado Springs, CO, and Michael (Betty) Solms, of Marion; a sister, Eleanor (David) Fyffe, of Greenwood; and 11 grandchildren.
Calling is Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St., Huntington, with Rev. Ron Rieder officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.
