James G. 'Jim' Ramey

James G. "Jim" Ramey, 86, of LaFontaine, IN, and having family members in Huntington County, IN, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at 6:15 a.m. at Miller's Merry Manor East, in Wabash.
Mr. Ramey was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the 19th Field Artillery. He worked in the coal mines of Virginia for 18 years and at Fisher Body, in Marion, for 27 years, retiring in 1988. He attended Grace Fellowship Church.
He was born Aug. 15, 1926, in Grundy, VA, to Wyatt and Lucy Stiltner Ramey. He married Bonnie Pefley on June 24, 1970, in Wabash. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, James D. Ramey, of Bryan, OH; Robert G. (Tammy) Ramey, of Columbia City; and Brad (Debbie) Hall, of Wabash; three daughters, Sue (Ben) Metzger, of Columbia City; Linda (Robert) Sopher, of Pella, IA; and Judy Green, of North Manchester; a brother, Irvin (Nancy) Ramey, of Grundy, VA; eight grandchildren, Destiny (Harry) Boggs, of Huntington; Deborah (Deryl) Fairchild, of Roanoke; R.J. Ramey and Adem Ramey, both of Columbia City; Scott (Carrie) Green, of North Manchester; Shawnae (David) Lambert, of Pella, IA; Alyssa Wheeler, of Greensburg; and Adam (Jade) Hall, of Wabash; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A service was held on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at the Grandstaff-Hengen Funeral Service, Wabash. Rev. Bill Bowling and Rev. Rick Harrison officiated. Burial was at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash.
Preferred memorials are gifts to Grace Fellowship Church.
